Fit2Learn Intervention

Fit2Learn (formally Gym Trail)

Some children who have coordination issues or who find it difficult to navigate the space around them safely or perhaps to sit still may benefit from attending Fit2Learn sessions. These run from 8.30-8.45 Monday to Friday. The children complete a circuit of fun exercises designed to help them improve their postural control, core strength and co-ordination, auditory processing skills, motor sensory integration and resilience. The daily practice, with adult support where needed, really helps to strengthen muscles they would not otherwise use and with encouragement the children challenge themselves to improve week by week. We also find that the children involved are ready for learning when they have finished the session. These types of exercises are also included in our PE sessions at Castle Hill and other Fit2Learn interventions are also sometimes set up within year groups where we see a specific need as we know that they improve emotional regulation and in turn support academic learning. As with all of our interventions the children are assessed prior to starting the sessions and at the end of each term to track their progress.
