Leading Parent Partnership Award
Leading Parent Partnership Award
At Castle Hill, we have achieved our Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA). We know that having strong relationships with parents and with our community has significant positive impacts on children’s wellbeing and their learning in school.
What is the Leading Parent Partnership Award?
The Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) is a recognised award that provides a challenging framework within which schools can strengthen their partnerships with parents and carers. Increasing parental participation in school life leads to improved pupil progress, punctuality, attendance and behaviour. The framework encourages parents to be involved in their children's learning leading to improved outcomes in all aspects of school life.
The long-term benefits of the LPPA include (but are not limited to):
Increased parent participation and involvement
Enhanced parents' support in children's learning
Improved communication between home and school
Little Forest School and Nature Tots are a key part of the transition into school.
Our achievements through the Leading Parent Partnership Award
These are some of the areas that we have improved:
Parents have more regular opportunities to find out what their children are learning. We have reviewed and improved our Curriculum pages on our website. We also now send home weekly updates using Tapestry or Google Classroom for all year groups.
The Fabulous Finishes give our parents an opportunity to see learning taking place inside the school. We have listened to feedback about our Fabulous Finishes and ensured that parents get to see their child's classroom, as well as wider aspects of the school.
We have improved our Induction for new starters to the school. This has included an induction pack for pupils who join in any year group as well as extended the opportunities for the pupils joining our EYFS. One of the key changes is our incredible Little Forest School and Nature Tots sessions that children can attend with their parents.
With Realise Futures, we have introduced Adult Learning Courses as well as shared adult-child learning opportunities. These have ranged from Maths to Festivals and have been well-attended and well-received.
For our parents with English as an Additional Language (EAL), we have an English for Speakers of other languages (ESOL) course running to support parents and create meaningful relationships.
Our office entrance has become more welcoming, with a seating area for parents and a television screen with information.
We have introduced Year Group email addresses so that parents can email class teachers more directly and have more timely responses.
Face to face Parents' Evenings in autumn and spring term to give additional opportunities to see pupils' learning. Student ambassadors support at these as a key part of their role. Alongside this, there are presentations about our curriculum, such as music, art and Forest School.
Our Social Media has had a revamp! It now includes a main Instagram page, as well as more bespoke pages for Art and Forest School.
We have improved our Parent Newsletters to ensure that over the academic year, parents have information about our reward system, workshops and curriculum.
