EYFS Curriculum
Welcome to a day in Reception at Castle Hill

At Castle Hill Primary School we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework. We support children’s learning and development in all areas of the curriculum so children are able to achieve their Early Learning Goals by the end of their time in Reception. Each day in Reception, all 7 areas of learning are covered both indoors and outdoors. All areas of learning and development are important and interconnected.
“Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive.”
The three prime areas are:
Communication and language
Physical development
Personal, social and emotional development
There are four specific areas through which the prime areas are strengthened and applied. The four specific areas are:
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding of the World
Expressive Arts and Design
We link our learning to a main theme/topic in order to provide connected experiences and make learning purposeful. Examples of activities and experiences we use to support every child’s development:

Talk for Writing texts and small world or role play areas to retell the stories
