The Inclusion Quality Mark provides UK schools with a nationally recognised validation of their inclusive practice and ongoing commitment to developing educational inclusion.
There are three award levels, beginning with the IQM Inclusive School Award. Two higher award levels are available to schools that continue to grow and develop their practice in conjunction with other like-minded schools – IQM Centre of Excellence Award and IQM Flagship School Award.
In 2022, Castle Hill Infant and Junior schools were awarded the IQM Inclusive school award and the Centre of Excellence award following a multi-stage award process. The IQM is a continual process with yearly reviews to ensure continued excellence.
Our most recent review was in November 2025, and we have been awarded IQM Flagship school status.
“Leaders at Castle Hill Infant and Junior School are committed to meeting the needs of all children and take proactive steps to ensure inclusive practices are embedded throughout the school. Inclusion is not an add-on; it underpins everything the school
does. As observed, each morning, children enter the school calmly, with senior leaders and support staff (inclusion facilitators) on hand to ensure they are settled and ready to learn, whilst also reassuring parents that their children will have a good day. Leaders have high expectations for the children and the community they serve and are fully committed to working closely with families to ensure the school provides the best possible opportunities”.
"The school is exceptionally well led by determined and enthusiastic leaders who maintain a wholly child-centred approach. They drive meaningful change across the school, with inclusion firmly at the heart of everything they do. Leaders consistently
uphold the values of the IQM framework and actively contribute to cluster meetings, sharing expertise and best practice".
